letters from far

dusty postage stamps on paper, put in place to keep your words safe 
until they reach the lips of someone new, 
as they read each word aloud and keep the memory of your voice breathing them quietly,
listening to your story unfold in every swirling letter, 
and the pictures in your mind appear through sleepy golden eyelashes.
